Terms of Service.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Asteria (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

The Service

Asteria is operated by Maverick (@chadthemaverick), an individual developer. It computes astrological birth charts and provides written interpretations of them. It lets you cast, save, and revisit charts, keep a reflective journal, compare charts, and explore reference charts and a glossary.

Astrology is offered for reflection and entertainment. Readings are not professional advice. Nothing in the Service is, or should be relied upon as, medical, psychological, legal, financial, or other professional guidance. Always consult a qualified professional for decisions in those areas.

Accounts

You may use much of Asteria without an account. If you create one, you are responsible for the accuracy of the email you provide and for activity under your account. Sign-in is by one-time magic link or Google Sign-In; keep access to your email secure, as it controls your account.

You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country, to create an account.

Your content

You retain ownership of the data you enter: birth details, chart names, and journal entries (“Your Content”). You grant us only the limited permission needed to store and process Your Content to operate the Service for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. We claim no other rights to it and do not use it to train any model.

You are responsible for Your Content and for having the right to enter any third party’s birth details. Do not enter data you are not permitted to use.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service: no attempting to access other users’ data, no probing or breaking authentication or rate limits, no automated scraping that burdens the Service, no uploading of unlawful content, and no use that infringes others’ rights or violates applicable law.

Place-name lookups are subject to the usage policy of OpenStreetMap Nominatim; do not use Asteria to bulk-query that service.

Sharing links

If you create a read-only share link for a chart, anyone with the link can view that chart. You control this: delete the chart to retire its link. Do not share links containing data you wish to keep private.

Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties (geocoding, email delivery, Google Sign-In, fonts, and optional privacy-friendly analytics) as described in the Privacy Policy. Your use of those features may also be subject to the third party’s own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services.

Availability and changes

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may update these Terms; material changes are marked by a new effective date, and continued use constitutes acceptance.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of any reading or calculation. Astrological interpretations are inherently subjective.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction is to stop using the Service and delete your account.

Termination

In the current beta you can stop using the Service at any time, and clearing your browser data removes everything stored on your device. Once accounts ship you will be able to delete your account and all its data from your account page. We may suspend or terminate access that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe is harmful to the Service or other users.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be subject to the state and federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, unless applicable law grants you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
